Female Corrections Officers Needed
The Washington County Jail is now hiring a Female Corrections Officer. Captain Matthew Martin spoke with WMOA about the details. "She would be tasked with, um, supervising inmates that are incarcerated in our facility. Um, everything from the intake process, uh, when the person's initially arrested to, you know, processing the inmate into the facility. Um, and then, uh, the, the daily, uh, care of the inmates, uh, while they are in our facility." There are a number of benefits included with this position. "We have very competitive pay. Our, our benefits are exceptional. Our healthcare insurance is absolutely amazing. Um, most things are, are, uh, covered 75%, um, to 90%." It is important that both men and women are involved in this role. "This position is specifically for, uh, females. Uh, reason being is, uh, we house both male and female inmates, so that's why it's gender, gender specific. There's certain tasks that, uh, officers have to be of the same gender, uh, in order to perform those tasks." Martin explains the next steps for interested individuals. "Definitely, uh, fill out, uh, an application online from our website there. And, um, then follow up. Uh, they're welcome to follow up with a, a phone call to myself or a major Carr to check on that application. And from there, uh, we, we go through a review of all the applicants and then, uh, schedule interviews." He encourages that anyone with interest fills out an application to learn more. "This is a, it's an unusual field that not everyone's used to or have been a part of. However, you know, we pride ourselves on, uh, running a, a very secure, safe facility and that if you're in the least bit interested in checking things out, uh, I would encourage them to apply and come see what Washington County jail's all about." The position starts at $23.08/hr with 11 paid holidays.
