UPDATE: AEP now says anyone within the city limits of Marietta should not be affected.

The outage is now expected to affect those who live past the Washington County Career Center on State Route 676, the Little Warren area on State Route 550, and Hanna Road in Warren Township.

The outage is so a faulty station switch can be replaced.

AEP says the power outage is scheduled to occur between 7 am and 1 pm on Saturday.

American Electric Power has planned a power outage for a portion of the west side of Marietta on Saturday morning.

AEP says the outage is scheduled to begin around 7 am, and service should be restored by 1 pm. The company says the outage is needed to replace a station switch that is failing.

The Harmar Hill area will be affected by the interruption. However, Oak Grove is not expected to lose service.

While the projects are not related at all, there have been concerns raised on whether the Harmar Hill area would also lose water service due to the 676 water tank being out of operation.

City officials say that as of right now, they do not expect the Gilman Booster Station to be affected by the power outage, and therefore, there should not be an interruption of water service.

Officials say they are seeking a clearer definition from AEP on the exact area to be without power and if it could affect the booster station.
