(MARIETTA, OH) - Agents of the Major Crimes Task Force arrested two suspects early this morning on drug trafficking charges.

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks says the agents arranged to  purchase Suboxone from Cameron J. Cowan, age 22, 25 Lane Road, Vincent, and David A. Ward, age 49, 202 Tennis Center Drive, Marietta twice in February.

Mincks says both purchases were made at the time Cowan obtained his prescription for Suboxone.  The sheriff adds, in both instances, Ward arranged the meet location and the terms of the deal and Cowan completed the transaction.

The first purchase was a single pill for $20 and the second was eight pills for $150.  After completing the second transaction, Mincks says Cowan told the confidential informant future purchases would be cheaper.

Cowan was charged with two fourth degree felony counts of trafficking in drugs and Ward was charged with two fourth degree felony counts of complicity in trafficking in drugs.

Cowan and Ward have since been released from the Washington County Jail after posting bonds of $5,000 and $10,000, respectively.
