The report states that Board Members at the church along with the pastor believed that the church treasurer, Identified as Betty Wheaton, embezzled at least 200,000 dollars from the church.

Additional reports state that Wheaton had provided a treasurer report which showed that the church had a large amount of money in their account however upon a bank visit it was discovered that there was around 90 thousand dollars less in the account than what the report had shown

Back in July, the sheriff's office reports that Wheaton was interviewed.  She stated that she had been with the church for 41 years and she and other individuals were the ones that signed the checks.

The bank records according to the report state that a 7 year analysis was conducted… in that time it was determined that Betty Wheaton had written checks to cash or to herself for over 515 thousand dollars.

Just today, Deputies with the Sheriff's Office requested a summons be issued on the 71 year old Marietta resident.
