Marietta Police say a man attempted what he thought would be a bank robbery downtown, but he didn't actually hold up a bank. Rather, he pulled a handgun on employees inside a Peoples Bancorp administrative office at 206 Scammel Street.

The gunman demanded money, employees had to tell him there was no money because he was simply inside an office. He then fled on foot across Scammel and north in the alley between Scammel and Wooster; Second and Third.

Capain Jeff Waite tells WMOA News the would-be bank robber is a white male in his 40s, about 5'8", with a medium build and medium length brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a black long-sleeve t-shirt, a blue ball cap, and had on sunglasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Marietta Police at (740) 373-4141.
