Darkside Robotics will hold a "Robo Camp" at Discovery World on Market. Amy Stewart, the administrator of the robotics camp, shares the details.

"So Darkside Robotics is a high school robotics team, and we compete each year, um, usually twice in competitions with teams from around the world. As part of our work throughout the year when we're not competing, we seek to outreach to, uh, youth and into the community, mainly around the idea of STEM education. So we have partnered for the last three years with Discovery World on Market in Parkersburg to offer camp programs for typically middle school into early high school age range."

This camp encourages the creative minds of those ages 12 to 16.

"And our camp is based in a type of, of robots called XRP robots, and what that means is, I think it stands for Experimental Robotics Platform. But they are about six inch by six inch robots that the campers will-- they'll assemble the robot on the first day of camp, and then on the second day they'll learn-- they'll code it so that it can drive."

The camp is on June 29th and 30th, July 6th, and July 27th and 28th. Stewart shares why.

"They'll meet one time in the middle of the month to think about and learn how to design mechanisms for the robot. So they can either use 3D printers or they can use common materials to, to build things like scoops or like a forklift or whatever they want to use to move things around on our game board."

Darkside Robotics is always recruiting high school-aged students as team members.
