American Cancer Society Merges Pennsylvania and Ohio Divisions
Posted on: 09/03/2010
By  Callie Lyons

Effective September 1, the American Cancer Society’s Ohio Division and Pennsylvania Division merged to form the new American Cancer Society East Central Division.  The move will allow the two divisions to blend the best of both former entities to create a stronger, more efficient division with greater resources to fight cancer.

The merger was approved by the volunteer boards of directors of both divisions. Garry Pincock, the former Pennsylvania Division CEO, will serve as CEO of the new entity.

Separately, Ohio and Pennsylvania were the smallest divisions in the country and two of only five divisions that were made up of single states. The combined East Central Division will serve a population of nearly 24 million, making it the seventh largest of the American Cancer Society’s 12 divisions.
