The Wood County Sheriff’s Office will coordinate an effort focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances on September 25.
Take-back day will provide an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction.
On Saturday, September 25 from 9 AM to 2 PM, the Wood County Sheriff's Office, Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, and area fire departments will host collection sites. Controlled, non-controlled, and over the counter substances will be collected anonymously. No requests for identification will be made.
Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative and should not be placed in collection containers. However, if an individual wants to surrender an illicit controlled substance, law enforcement personnel will handle such material as abandoned property.
