City Health Department Flu Shot Kick-Off Clinic on Sept. 14
Posted on: 08/30/2010
By  Callie Lyons

The Marietta City Health Department will hold a flu shot kick-off clinic on Tuesday, September 14 from 7 am to 3 pm at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

Flu shots will be administered at a cost of $25 for adults and $7 for children. Medicare and Medicaid will be accepted. No one will be turned away for inability to pay.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone six months of age and older receive the flu vaccine. It’s especially important that certain groups get vaccinated either because they are at high risk of developing flu-related complications or because they live with or care for people at high risk for developing flu-related complications. These groups include: pregnant women, children younger than five years of age (especially children younger than two years old)), people 50 years of age and older, people of any age with certain chronic medical conditions, people who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, people who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from the flu, and household contacts and out of home caregivers of children less than six months of age (these children are too young to be vaccinated).

For more information, call the Marietta City Health Department at 373-0611 ext. 186.
