
Registered voters who have information that doesn’t match their records with the bureau of motor vehicles are being asked to verify the details in a mailing going out this week.
The Washington County board of elections sent out 1,000 letters to local residents yesterday. Voters are being asked to fill out and return a simple form confirming information.
The Help America Vote Act requires the state elections official and motor vehicle authority to match information in a statewide database to insure the integrity of the voter registration rolls.
In this case, the state came up with grant money to help pay for postage for the verification process.
