Washington County Median Income Ranked 67th

Even as the population in Washington County is on the decline, the number of employed people increased by 2.6 percent from 2000 to 2008.

The county has lost jobs in Information Technology and Manufacturing industries while seeing gains in Mining and Logging, Professional Services, and Education and Health Services.
 
The median household income is $40,805 – ranked 67th of Ohio’s 88 counties.
According to the Buckeye Institute for Public Policy Solutions, average yearly wages are highest for state government employees – at an average of $50,085, but lowest for local government employees – at an average of $31,263. Private sector employees averaged yearly wages around $36,146.
