More than a year after the Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry announced they were entering the final phase of their air investigation in Marietta, a spokesman says the agency is still months away from releasing their study.
Agency scientists are analyzing air sampling results from air monitors stationed around the community to measure manganese particulate resulting from local manufacturing processes.
On Wednesday, a spokesman said the study results should become available within the next six months. He said the study's release is "almost imminent".
When they do act, agency officials will draft a report and make a copy available for viewing at the public library. Officials say they will also hold a public meeting with the community and accept comments for at least 30 days before issuing a final report.
On May 22, 2000, Senator Mike DeWine asked the ATSDR to open an investigation into the air quality around Marietta to determine whether it was having an impact on the health of local residents.
