Ohio 7 Update
Posted on: 04/30/2008
By  Callie Lyons
Ohio 7, located just north of Marietta, is continuing to see traffic pattern changes as major construction progresses in the area. Beginning today, Browns Road, located adjacent to the Reno Bridge crossing the Little Muskingum River, will be closed to allow for continuing construction and to protect motorist safety, as turning movements at this location will not provide ample sight distance.

Motorists that need to reach residences or businesses in the area are advised to use the following detour: County Road 20 (Sandhill Road) to CR 348 back to Browns Road. The principle business in the area is The Inn at Marietta, an assisted living facility.

In other Ohio 7 news, ODOT officials say that Ohio 7, located north of Newport, will be open to one lane by Friday, weather permitting. The site has been closed to traffic since late March after a rockslide threatened the highway and motorists using it. Blasting concluded last week, and a significant cleanup effort has been under way to remove the rock and debris in order to open the route to traffic as quickly as possible. ODOT has been workng with contracting firm Beaver Excavating, Inc. of Canton to complete this work.
