Neighbors Want an Apology
Posted on: 09/03/2007

The Neighbors for Clean Air say they had no intentions of doing anything illegal or immoral. At the request of the fair board, they did not participate in the parade, but some members gathered along the route.

Member Diane Vezza explains:

“I had already pledged my house as a gathering place,” Vezza said. “So someone decided we would just still gather at my house because I'm on the parade route and that they would would passively stand in the sidewalk and display a banner.”

Vezza said she – and other members of the community – were particularly offended by the insinuation that the neighbors might be involved the distribution of illegal materials.

“I am more than upset about the fact that I am somehow being tied to pornography,” Vezza said. “I have never been involved in an organization that is involved in anything that crude or disgusting. And, for a man to tie me into that is very upsetting to me and I think it's slanderous. And, I'm looking for a written apology, actually.”

She said it will take a written apology to set things right.
