Prostitution Ring Busted
Posted on: 08/08/2014

Five people have been arrested in a prostitution ring being operated in the area.
Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks says earlier this week, the Major Crimes Task Force received information that an unknown male was using a Pike Street hotel to run a prostitution ring.
Mincks says an investigation revealed that a man who identified himself as 27-year-old Xavier Freeman rented multiple rooms at the hotel and would bring seven or eight women with him.
A traffic stop was conducted yesterday on a vehicle Freeman was a passenger in.  Canines indicated the presence of drugs, at which time the people in the vehicle were searched.
When he was searched, Mincks says officers found a roll of cash and a bag of hydromorphone pills on Freeman.  Mincks adds that Freeman had an object, possibly a weapon, concealed in his pants.
A witness told authorities that Freeman was the head of the organization, and all of the women in the vehicle except one were prostitutes working for Freeman.  The other woman, 23-year-old Shaasia Jones was allegedly working with Freeman in the ring – transporting women to Marietta and Parkersburg for prostitution.
Freeman, although authorities believe that name is false, has been charged with human trafficking, possession of Schedule 2 drugs, compelling prostitution, and promoting prostitution.  He’s in jail without bond.
Jones has been charged with complicity in human trafficking, complicity in compelling prostitution, and complicity in promoting prostitution.  She’s also being held without bond.
Two of the three others in the vehicle – 38-year-old Tamisha Lowe and 25-year-old Tiffany Pendergrass – have each been charged with obstructing official business.  Each of them are being held on a $750 bond.
A fifth person, 23-year-old Reba Grahovac, was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments.  She’s being held on a $750 bond.
