Two Parades for Memorial Day in Marietta

There will be two Memorial Day Parades in Marietta on Monday.  
 
Harmar’s parade will start at 8:00 AM,beginning at Harmar School, winding its way through the West Side to Harmar Cemetery.
 
Marietta’s downtown parade will start forming at 9:30 AM on Front Street between Putnam and Scammel. At 10:00, the parade will proceed from Putnam to Fifth; up Fifth to Wooster; continue on Wooster to Eighth Street; end at Oak Grove Cemetery.  
 
At the conclusion, there will be a ceremony at American Legion Post 64, adjacent to the cemetery at Eight and Wooster; then food will be served at the Legion and at VFW Post 5108 at 319 Pike Street.
 
Governor John Kasich has ordered that all flags in Ohio be flown at half-staff from sunrise until noon on Memorial Day, in honor of those who gave their lives in service to our nation.
 
The governor wrote: “This is a time for all Americans to reflect on the significance of the contributions and sacrifices made by the men and women of our military, throughout our nation’s history, to preserve our freedom and way of life.”
