AEP Winter Heating Bill Payment Assistance Program Extended to May 30

A utility assistance program has extended the deadline for AEP Ohio customers to apply for financial help in paying the past winterís high heating bills. The application deadline for the Ohio Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program is now May 30.

Neighbor-to-Neighbor resulted from a partnership between AEP Ohio and the Dollar Energy Fund. It offers one-time assistance to households facing electric service termination by applying grant funds to their AEP account.

The programís network of more than 120 community-based organizations can continue to take applications until the end of the month. Locally, the program is handled by Washington-Morgan Community Action.

There are restrictions. Total gross household income must be at or below 250 percent of federal poverty guidelines. Households must also have made a sincere payment effort on the electric bill in the past 90 days but still have a back balance.

For more information, call Community Action at 373-3745 in Marietta or 962-3827 in Malta.
