Highway Patrol To Conduct Checkpoint
Posted on: 05/06/2014
By  Mike Cullums

Lt. Carlos Smith, commander of the Marietta post of the State Highway Patrol, says that "sometime this week" troopers will operate an OVI checkpoint to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

The county either Morgan or Washington - where the checkpoint will take place will be announced the day before, and the location will be announced on the morning of the checkpoint.

Such notifications are standard nationwide, incidentally, because of a court ruling years ago.

The Highway Patrol urges everyone who plans to consume alcohol to always designate a driver or make other arrangements in advance.
