Ohio Historical Society to Change Name in May to Ohio History Connection
Posted on: 04/21/2014
By  Mike Cullums
Marietta-area history buffs – of which there are many – will want to take note of this next story.
ONN Radio reports that, after 129 years, the Ohio Historical Society is changing its name. On May 24 it will become the Ohio History Connection.
Officials say the change comes after residents, asked for their impressions of the organization, used such words as "inaccessible" and "antiquated". ONN says executive director Burt Logan, who was brought in several years ago to take charge of the financially struggling non-profit organization, convinced it’s board of directors to rename the society as part of a larger effort to change the Society’s image from exclusive to welcoming.
The Ohio Historical Society oversees 58 sites in 40 counties, including the Campus Martius and Ohio River museums in Marietta. .
