(MARIETTA, OH) - Ohio’s Lieutenant Governor is welcoming Washington County to Medicare.
Mary Taylor has announced that the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program will hold a “Welcome to Medicare” event at the O’Neill Senior Center this Wednesday—April 23—at 6 PM, which will help new and soon-to-be beneficiaries understand Medicare’s basics.
Taylor says the OSHIIP—the state’s official source for free and unbiased Medicare counseling--helped Ohioans save more the $16 million last year, and encourages people who recently enrolled in Medicare—or will become eligible later this year—to attend the event and learn more about coverage options.
The program will hold 19 “Welcome to Medicare” meetings and will provide people an opportunity to learn about Medicare benefits and important deadlines they have to meet.
The meeting will also provide specifics about Medicare Advantage plans, supplemental health insurance, prescription drug coverage and out-of-pocket expenses, and financial assistance programs that can help Medicare users pay the Part B premium.
