Dow Lake Body Identified
Posted on: 04/16/2014
By  Mike Cullums
A tragic end to a life of adventure, as the body found last week along U-S 50 east of Athens near Dow Lake has been identified.
The Athens County Sheriff’s Office and Montgomery County Coroner's Office...with the use of dental records...have identified the remains of 22-year-old Sammi Donato of Mount Orab in southwest Ohio.
Deputies have been in contact with Donato's family and learned that he was an avid traveler who enjoyed walking on long trips. In this case, he had departed southwest Ohio for the East Coast, with no specific itinerary or schedule.
Athens County detectives say there was no evidence of foul play, drug usage or mental health issues. Rather, they say it appears he either entered or fell into the creek for some reason, and was overcome by an unusually strong stream flow coming out of Dow Lake.
