(MARIETTA, OH) - The Washington County Commissioners have approved two Marietta men to serve on the Washington County Planning Commission.

The Commissioners say they’ve approved an extension for Jeff Knowlton’s current term on the Planning Commission that will keep him on until December 31, 2016 per Knowlton’s request.

The Commissioners also approved Planning Commission newcomer Mike Lewis to serve until December 31, 2016 as well.

Lewis’s Planning Commission service is in effect as of today (April 3).

In other county news, the commissioners are giving $10,000 to the Washington County Sheriff’s office for new Dell office equipment, and will also allocate $7000 to the Municipal Court so it can pay electronic monitoring fees.

In yet another allocation of funds, the commissioners also voted to increase county employee life insurance rates from $5000 to $10,000.  Commissioner David White says the original life insurance figure was too small to warrant any significant help to employees.
