Twisted Sisters Boutique Hosting Safe Water Drive for Charleston Area Residents
Posted on: 02/04/2014

A downtown Marietta business has organized a challenge for local residents to help our neighbors in the Charleston area by dropping off gallons of safe water.
Twisted Sisters Boutique, 197 Front Street, is encouraging everybody to bring in a gallon jug or two of bottled water between now and Friday. Friends of the store owners who live in Charleston will come to Marietta on Friday to pick up the donated water and distribute it in their neighborhoods.
Questions remain about the safety of the public water supply in a nine-county region around Charleston after a Jan. 9 chemical leak just upstream from a regional water treatment plant on the Elk River.
Many residents in the affected area are avoiding use of the water, even though officials say it's safe. Restrictions to its use are still in effect, such as an advisory that pregnant women not use it, so many Charleston-area residents have adopted a "better safe than sorry" approach.
If you have questions about this week's safe water drive at Twisted Sisters, call the store at (740) 374-7330.
