Yolan Dennis tells WMOA News that
she’s been urged to run for office several times over the years but now, with
her children grown, it seems like the right time and the right office to run
for…to make a positive difference for the area.
We asked about her main priority if
she is sent by voters to Columbus…
“The big thing is the economy, and
jobs. I think that with the availability of natural resources in our area, we
have an opportunity to economically and safely develop those resources and
bring good quality jobs to the area for people who want to stay in this area
and raise families.
“We’ve raised five children; now we
have a grandson and another grandchild on the way. We’ve really enjoyed raising
our family here and being involved in the community, and we want other families
to have the opportunity to stay here, with good-paying jobs.”
Dennis is a member of Tunnel United
Methodist Church, where she is a Certified Lay Speaker. She’s a member of the
National Rifle Association and a supporter of Right to Life, Relay for Life,
and missionary outreach efforts.
Many residents of the Warren Local
School District know her from being active in her children’s education as a
school volunteer for 15 years.
She told us she hopes that her lack
of political background will be seen by voters as a plus on Election Day.
