The Riverside Artists Gallery has planned a unique event for this Saturday – showcasing of items for Valentine’s Day giving along with an opportunity to help the needy in our community.
Artist Betsy Cook explains.
“It’s called ‘Gifts of the Heart’ and came about as were talking to some people at the (Community) Food Pantry and they need some replenishing of their food, toiletries, those kinds of things. So we combined that need with our show for Valentine’s Day. We’re going to be collecting things for the Pantry all day on Saturday from 10 till 5.”
Everyone who brings in a canned food donation for the Community Food Pantry will receive a ten percent discount on purchases on Saturday.
Betsy says the artists will be offering some truly unique Valentine’s gifts…
“The artists have been busy making some wonderful gift items. We’ll have some homemade glass beads and earrings by Bonnie Proudfoot, one of our glass artists. We’ll have origami lovebirds, paper collage cards and paintings by Akemi Matsumoto. Kate Mulligan, one of our new jewelers, is working on vintage jewelry. I’m going to have some Amazon jewelry stands that I hope people will like as a gift. And Cathy Norosky, our gourd artist, has some really beautiful items.”
The Riverside Artists Gallery is located at 219 Second Street in downtown Marietta.
Refreshments will be served and the Williamstown Strings, young violinists from Williamstown middle and high schools, will perform from 1 to 3 PM.
