Posted on: 01/27/2014
By  Mike Cullums

The Marietta Fire Department is urging the public to NOT walk on ice thatís covering any body of water, including, but not limited to rivers and ponds.

The fire department says that, unfortunately, many ice-related fatalities involve children who drown from falling through ice. With the current weather, children are playing outside, possible not aware that the ice is not consistently thick enough to walk on.

Parents are encouraged to talk with their children about the dangers of walking and playing around iced rivers and ponds.
