Humane Society Seeking Sponsors for Largest Annual Fundraiser in February
Posted on: 01/21/2014

The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley is in the process of organizing the “Fur Ball” dance and auction, its largest and most popular fundraiser, which will take place on February 22.

We have more on the event coming up. First, the organizers need business sponsors to help cover the expenses. Becky Johnston, president of the Humane Society this year, spoke with WMOA News…

“Well, we have a few corporate sponsors – very few so far. Companies can buy into it at different levels, and that helps offset the cost of the venue, the band and the food. We have different levels of corporate sponsorships. The big one is $5,000; there’s $2,500…$1,000 and $500. Each of those comes with a different amount of free tickets or reserved tables, as well as advertising opportunities. But we’ll accept any amount from $25 up to $5,000.”

For more information on sponsorship of the Fur Ball, call Carol McKitrick at (740) 374-2325.

Johnston says the upcoming Fur Ball is the 11th annual event, and it’s grown substantially...

“It will be held in a new location this year – the Shrine Club in Marietta. We’ve outgrown our old location. People just love it so we were bursting at the seams at the old place. We have 'Hit Parade' back. They really livened up the place last year so we’re having them back.

“For ticket information people can call one of two numbers: 373-9503 or 374-2325. You can get regular admission tickets or you can reserve a table. The reserve table is eight tickets or $185. Inidivdual tickets, advance or at the door, are $20.”

In addition to live music and dancing, the 11th annual Fur Ball will feature raffles, along with silent and live auctions.
