If you felt a few tremors earlier this afternoon, you weren’t just feeling something.
The U. S. Geological Survey has confirmed that a 3.5 magnitude earthquake occurred just before 1:00 this afternoon in Athens County.  The epicenter was located about 2 ½ miles southeast of Nelsonville.
The Athens County 9-1-1 office says they received several calls about the event, but no damage has been reported from the minor earthquake.
The USGS says reports of the tremor have come from as far away as Georgia and Massachusetts.  Within Washington and Wood Counties, reports of the quake have been sent from Belpre, Beverly, Vienna and Washington Bottom.
Other reports from people feeling this afternoon’s earthquake in Athens County have come from Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Maysville, Kentucky.
