Washington State to Host College Night
Posted on: 10/16/2013

Washington State Community College is teaming up with several other area schools to hold a Regional College Night at Grand Central Mall in Vienna October 29.

WMOA News spoke with Nicole Crump at Washington State about the event, which is the first of its kind.

“We think it’s important for our local community, both young and old, to understand that there are lots of great educational and training opportunities here locally," Crump says.

"They don’t need to leave the area to get a good, quality education and training.  There are a lot of great resources here close to home.  So, we wanted to open up the invitation to other schools to participate in a college night at the mall.”

Crump says they decided to partner with several other schools to give those who might participate many different options on how to continue their education, no matter where they are in life.

“Some people are looking for short term training.  Some people are looking for longer – two-year associate degrees or baccalaureate degrees," Crump explains.  "So, we wanted to make sure people knew there were lots of good options.  For us, personally, here at Washington State, some of these schools are really great partners of ours.  We have a lot of good articulations with them.  For some of these schools, they can start out at one, finish two years, and transfer to another.  That’s a great option too.”

Crump says eight area schools are currently participating in the event -- Washington State Community College, Ohio Valley University, Hocking College, Marietta College, National College, Ohio University, The Career Center – Adult Technical Training, and WVU-Parkersburg.

Again, the event will be held on Tuesday, October 29, from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Grand Central Mall in Vienna  For more information about the evening, contact Nicole Crump at Washington State.  Her phone number is 374-8716.
