Donations Sought for Strecker Cancer Patient and Survivor Picnic on October 12

The Memorial Health System’s Strecker Cancer Centers in Marietta and Belpre are planning their annual Strecker Patient Celebration as a tribute to all community members who have fought and continue to fight the difficult battle against cancer.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 12, 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Tomlinson Park in Williamstown.

Cortney Beymer, a licensed social worker with the Belpre center, explains…

“Each year we do a picnic to celebrate our patients and all the accomplishments they gotten through the past years, and sometimes many years before that. We’re inviting all of our present and past patients and their family members, and we’re providing food and entertainment. The food is picnic-style, provided by Warren’s IGA. We’re excited.”

Beymer says they expect nearly 200 people to attend, so the organization is seeking donations from area businesses for raffle prize drawings during the celebration…

“So far we’ve had gift certificates, jewelry, Mary Kay… Now we have both female and male patients and survivors attending, so something for both would be great."

If you’re interesting in donating, contact Cortney Beymer at (740) 401-0257.

“We really appreciate all the community support,” she adds.

Jamey Styer conducted the interview.
