Local Office of Wayne National Forest Moving to Former State Tree Nursery Site
Posted on: 09/10/2013

The Marietta office of the Wayne National Forest is moving a quarter-mile down and across the road to the former Ohio Department of Natural Resources state tree nursery at 27515 State Route 7 in Reno.

Forest service spokesman Gary Chancey tells WMOA News that to facilitate the move, the office will shut down next week…

“The current office, located at 27750 State Route 7 is scheduled to be closed Monday, September 16 through Monday, September 30.  We want to remind the public that during that closure, telephone assistance will be available by calling (740) 753-0101.”

That's the number for the Wayne's headquarters near Nelsonville.

Chancey says a couple of factors led to the decision to move just down the road…

“We found the old nursery site to be very affordable.  In fact, it’s actually less rent.  At the same time, we’re actually increasing our warehouse storage space.  That’s very good, because we have a great deal of equipment that comes along with us – such as our fleet of vehicles and the equipment to keep up recreation sites – mowers, weed eaters and numerous other pieces of equipment.”
