Marietta, Williamstown Students Join To Raise Funds for Strecker Cancer Center

Friday’s Marietta-Williamstown contest will serve as a student-run fundraiser for the Strecker Cancer Center at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Alex Hogan is a senior at Marietta High School…
“Basically, what we’re going to do is make this great game that a lot of people are going to come out for and watch; we’re going to make it into a fund raiser to help all those patients that need special things that they can’t pay for, because of how expensive everything is when you’re getting treatments.”
Williamstown senior David Hastings explains efforts to raise money on Friday night…
“We’re selling t-shirts and we’re setting collection cans throughout the Williamstown and Marietta sides, and having a competition between schools and senior classes to see who can raise the most money.”
Marietta student body president Katie Miller says putting this event together to help the Strecker Center was a no-brainer “once I learned about the cause of raising money for our very own community members – the people in dire need of paying for treatment or just being able to come to the hospital to get treatment. We’ll give them gas cards. It all goes directly to them.”
Friday night’s game at Don Drumm Stadium kicks off at 7:00. Pregame coverage on WMOA will begin at 6:45.
