Reedsville Man Charged with Kidnapping Woman in Early Morning Incident
Posted on: 09/05/2013

A Meigs County man was arrested in New Matamoras early Wednesday morning on charges of kidnapping, disrupting public service, assault, aggravated menacing and carrying a concealed weapon.

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks says all those charges came about from a series of events in which the suspect 61-year-old Dwin McGraw of Reedsville picked up a 32-year-old Coolville woman and her friend in Parkersburg and offered to drive them home.

After dropping off the friend, McGraw allegedly refused to take the victim to her home or let her out of his vehicle. At one point, when she tried to get out, Mincks says McGraw grabbed and struck her.

Finally, the woman was able to escape when the suspect stopped at the New Matamoras Par Mar to get gas at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

McGraw told deputies that he only gave the woman a ride, and denied kidnapping her or holding her against her will.

He is being held without bond in the Washington County Jail.
