Marietta College Welcomes Students
Posted on: 08/28/2013
By  Andy Rex

Marietta College welcomed students back to campus on Monday, including some 400 freshmen.

College spokesman Tom Perry says the first day back is always exciting…

“It’s a lot fun when things get going again. Just watching the students move in, seeing all the freshmen, being able to say they’re the class of 2017."

Perry says the college has done some things differently this year with orientation, and the students are responding well to the changes.

While many freshmen have not decided on a major, Perry says several programs remain popular…

“Petroleum engineering remains most popular. Obviously, with the economy and  the way the natural gas and oil industry is going, that remains very popular. Our business majors are doing well, too. We do well with education; with athletic training.”

Perry adds that, regardless of which major a student chooses, the school’s liberal arts basis sets it apart.

Final enrollment numbers are not yet available.
