American Electric Power said 1,223 customers on Harmar Hill and the West Side were without power this morning as the result of a traffic crash shortly before 3 AM. An AEP spokeswoman estimated that power would be restored by 9 AM.
Lancaster Street was closed to all but neighborhood traffic between Alta Street and Groves Avenue. The street was blocked by police and repair crews between Lookout Park and the WMOA-WJAW studios.

The Marietta police and fire departments responded to the one-car crash in the 900 block of Lancaster Street at 2:52 AM.
Police say a 2008 Chevy Cobalt driven by 33-year-old Daniel Eugene Burton of 116 Franklin Street left the roadway and struck a power pole. Burton and his passenger, 30-year-old Erin Sargent, were taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. An investigation is underway.
