Visitors Bureau Moving to Higher Profile Spot in Time for Sternwheel Festival

The Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau is about to move from their current location at 121 Putnam Street, inside Putnam Commons,  to 119 Greene Street.
The CVB’s Casey Knowlton explains why…
“Specifically, we were looking at the new location to have better visibility to visitors coming into our downtown area, and this new location certainly does that.  Being right on Greene Street, near all the festivals, like the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival, being that gateway into town. When you think of visitors traveling down Pike Street, then to Greene Street from the interstate, it just ends up being a very convenient location for us.”
He says the new office will be fully operational in time for “Sternwheel”…
“We will be completely (moved) by September 1, which puts us in line to be completely up and running by the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival.  We are hoping to be moved in to the facilities sooner than that, and ready to work as soon as possible.”
Knowlton says the office will be closed one day next week…
“We will be shut down on Monday in order to be able to get office operations up and running.  We’re still planning on being open on Tuesday, so we’re prepared for visitors coming in and so we are able to do our jobs effectively and have the necessary tools to be able to do so.”
The tourist information booth in the Kroger shopping center will remain open for normal hours on Monday.
