One Killed, One Injured in Tractor Wrecks

The Marietta post of the Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal tractor accident that occurred at 5:10 PM yesterday in Barlow Township.
Patrol Lieutenant Carlos Smith says 49-year-old Arlan Ullman of Bell Road was operating a John Deere 3020 tractor on Hayes Road when the tractor lost a load of hay and flipped over on top of him. Ullman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff’s deputies and the Barlow volunteer fire department also responded to the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office says a Reno man escaped serious injury after being run over by a tractor in Newport Township on Monday.
A tractor - driverless and idling - began coasting downhill. Its operator, 47-year-old Loren Ewing of Sandhill Road, tr ied to grab the steering wheel, but slipped on wet grass and fell. A rear tire then ran over him, causing an apparent back injury. He was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital by the Newport rescue squad.
