Heritage Ohio Designates Marietta as a Main Street Community
Posted on: 07/18/2013
By  Mike Cullums
Marietta has been designated as a Main Street community. Heritage Ohio, which administers the program, made the announcement yesterday.
Since June 2010, Marietta has been participating in the Main Street Emerging Level Program, preparing a  program for success at downtown revitalization. A selection committee from Heritage Ohio recently reviewed the work done by ReStore Marietta, and found that all the requirements have been satisfied.
Heritage Ohio Director Joyce Barrett says Marietta has demonstrated a real commitment to its future, with a volunteer board of directors as well as securing stable funding for a sustained revitalization program. ReStore Marietta Director Jean Farmer says this is an exciting time for the city.
Marietta now shares the Main Street designation with 23 Ohio communities, including Cambridge, Mount Vernon and Millersburg.
Visit Heritage Ohio's website to learn more about the organization and how a Main Street designation can help a community.
