Sweet Corn Festival This Weekend
Posted on: 07/17/2013
By  Mike Cullums
The sixth annual Marietta Sweet Corn Festival takes place this Friday and Saturday in Muskingum Park on Front Street, featuring music, activities and yes, plenty of fresh sweet corn for a dollar an ear.
One of the event’s coordinators, Jessie Bigley, provides listeners with some of the entertainment highlights.
“Friday night we have bluegrass with Johnny Staats and the Delivery Boys. On Saturday we have High Schools That Rocks – they play classic rock and roll. Don Muir does sing-alongs, and the Price Family wraps it up.”
Friday’s entertainment kicks off with the Moon Band at 6:00 p.m., followed by Johnny Staats from 7:00 till 9:00.

Jessie Bigley says there are plenty of activities for kids, as well.
"The children’s area is completely free. We have a merry-go-round, cartoonist J. D. Williamson, face painting, a petting zoo, inflatables and a coin hunt.”
WMOA will be teaming up with Marietta Police for the free Child ID program from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Antique engines will be on display both days, with ground corn meal for sale.
