Power Outage Shuts Down Courthouse
Posted on: 07/01/2013
By  Andy Rex
The Washington County Courthouse was shut down today after an electrical problem caused some power in the building to go out this morning.
Marietta Fire Department Captain Marc Coppernoll says they received a call around 11:00 this morning of an electrical issue in the building.  He says as a precaution, they went ahead and shut down the building for the day.
Coppernoll says a small animal got into wiring around the building, shorting out one of the three phases leading into the courthouse.  American Electric Power was called to the scene, where they were able to alleviate the issue.
The courthouse is expected to be open for regular business tomorrow.
