Buckeye Hills Development District to Help ODOT Improve Rural Planning
Posted on: 06/18/2013
By  Mike Cullums
The Buckeye Hills and Hocking Valley Regional Development District has been selected by The Ohio Department of Transportation to participate in a Regional Transportation Planning Organization pilot program. Itís one of five organizations across the state to take part.
For decades, ODOT has consulted informally with rural elected officials in the development of State Transportation Improvement Programs. The goal of this pilot program is to formalize and strengthen the rural transportation planning process and link it more closely to potential economic development planning.
During the two-year program, ODOT and Buckeye Hills will work in to develop comprehensive plans for rural southeast Ohio.
Buckeye Hills, with its office at 1400 Pike Street, is a designated local development district serving Washington County and seven neighboring counties.
