Year's First Merchants & Artists Walk Coming to Downtown, Harmar on Friday
Posted on: 05/06/2013
By  Andy Rex

This Friday night is the first of five Merchants and Artists walks in downtown Marietta and Harmar Village. It gets underway at 6:00 p.m.

The events are sponsored by ReStore Marietta. Board member Jennifer Offenberger says it’s a great time to check out the city’s locally owned retailers.

“Our businesses downtown stay open later. It gives everyone a chance to go down and check out what’s great downtown at those stores and buy a gift or grab something that you’ve been needing, but haven’t had the chance.”

Many merchants take part in the event, staying open until 9:00. Additionally, Offenberger says the Peoples Bank Theatre is hosting some acts near the theatre on Putnam Street. And she says other entertainment is planned for the evening.

“We’re going to have a couple of bands this year. We’re looking at having one over in Harmar Village and one on Front Street somewhere. With bands playing music that evening, it’s a good time to stop and listen to some tunes for a while you’re downtown strolling and visiting with all of your neighbors.”

The remaining walks are scheduled for June 14, July 12, August 9, and November 8.
