Volunteers Needed for 'Clean Sweep'
Posted on: 04/05/2013
By  Mike Cullums
With springtime temperatures finally here, ReStore Marietta will conduct its annual spring Clean Sweep tomorrow (Apr. 6). Volunteers will be all around downtown and Harmar, cleaning up litter, trimming hedges and shrubbery, and weeding and mulching flower beds.
ReStore’s Mallory Greenham says they’re starting bright and early.
“We’ll start work at 8:00 a.m. We’ll meet at CNAC - the old JD Byrider lot at Greene and Second. We’ll work until it’s finished, but we’re probably going to be out there until 3:00. We’re always looking for people to volunteer their time.
“Even if they can’t stay the whole time,” she emphasizes, “if they can just come for a little bit. You can’t miss us when we’re downtown. We’ll be everywhere.”
Greenham says they need about sixty people to complete all the work that needs to be done. Anyone and everyone who can help, even if it’s just for an hour, is welcome to show up and pitch in.
Also needed are rakes, brooms, shovels, gloves, hand tools, and trash bags. Greenham says even if you can’t work, if you can donate such items to the effort, it would be greatly appreciated. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to workers.
For more information call ReStore Marietta at 740-885-8194.
Interview conducted by Andy Rex.
