No Washington County Primary Election
Posted on: 03/15/2013
By  Mike Cullums
There will be no primary election in Washington County in May. Thatís the word from county elections director Tara Hupp.
However, the northernmost section of the county will see a special election on May 7. It's a school levy vote within the Caldwell Exempted Village School District, which includes the Aurelius Township/Macksburg Village precinct (the majority of the school district is in Noble County).
Due to the lack of a partisan primary election, Hupp says the Washington County Board of Elections has declared each person who filed as certified for the general election. Those candidates will appear on the ballot for the November 5 general election. It will feature races for Marietta and Belpre city councils.

The deadline for Macksburg and Aurelius Township residents to register to vote in the Caldwell schools special election is April 8. The Washington County Board of Elections will be open from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm that day. Absentee voting for the special election will begin Tuesday, April 2 and end Friday, May 3.
