Tens of thousands are expected to gather at this Sunday’s Mid Ohio Valley Air Show and Expo as the skies fill with breathtaking aircraft performances.
WMOA News spoke with Air Show Co-Director Donna Rusche about this year’s theme, A Tribute to Those Who Serve.
“That idea developed from the air show staff over the past couple years,” explains Rusche. “It’s a tribute, not only to the military, but also for those that serve in every other capacity, which could be EMS, firemen, police, teachers, doctors, and nurses – people who step up and serve the community.”
Rusche says one of this year’s headline acts is the Aerobatic Team RV. “They are made up on twelve aircrafts and fill the sky. They do aerobatics, with colorful, unique, and unforgettable routines and graceful, large formations. They also usually do 'Missing Man' which is done with military aircraft.”
She also mentions air performer Jane Wicker. “She’s a ‘wing walker’, something right out of the 1920s, 30s, and 40s – the barnstorming era. She definitely thrills and chills; you can’t see or anticipate any of her acts and she does it all without safety lines.”
Donna Rusche adds there’s plenty for kids to do, including inflatables, obstacles, and helicopter-building.
