Community Leader Paul Bertram Dead at 75

A well-known Marietta community leader has died. Attorney and developer Paul Bertram, Jr., passed away at home on Sunday afternoon.  

A graduate of Marietta High School, Ohio State University, and the University of Cincinnati College of Law, Paul Bertram, Jr., practiced law before local courts, the Federal Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

He was also well known in regional business circles, having been involved with the beginning and/or operating of numerous businesses, including but not limited to: Bertram Development, Eagle Realty, Dime Bank, Magnum Magnetics, MKB, HiVac, Metal Tech, New Weihl Olds, Double Tree, Mole Master, Two Rivers Realty and Quantum Leasing. In 1994, Mr. Bertram was named Business Person of the Year by the Marietta Chamber of Commerce. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Paul Bertram is survived by his wife, Janice; his mother; his sister; two sons, Seth and city law director Paul III; and seven grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at the First Congregational Church on Friday at 11:00 a.m., with a reception at the Marietta Country Club to celebrate Paul Bertramís life immediately following the service. Donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, 312 Front Street, Marietta. Arrangements are by Cawley and Peoples Funeral Home.
