City Schools Official Under Investigation

The office of State Auditor Dave Yost and the Marietta Police Department are investigating a possible case of theft of funds within the Marietta City School District.
According to a statement from the district, Barbara Mincks - who worked under the title of education management information system coordinator - has been removed from that position and placed on paid administrative leave pending further investigation of irregularities identified by the state auditor.
The school district says it was notified this week by the state auditor that Mincks, who works in the financial office, had, "engaged in the manipulation and falsification of financial records in a manner suggesting that a theft of public funds had occurred."
Neither city schools nor city police are talking yet about how much money is involved nor providing any other details.

The statement from the school district says that all available measures are being taken to secure the funds and there will be no disruption of financial services as a result of the alleged theft.

Barbara Mincks lives in Salem Township.
