Several organizations
including Wasco and the Washington County Board of Elections took part in a voter
education and registration event at the Wasco Workshop yesterday.
Adults with
various disabilities work there, and yesterday’s event was designed to help
those citizens make their voices heard on Election Day.
There was instruction for the
blind and other types of disabilities, and reassurance from local elections officials that they and poll workers stand ready to assist disabled voters.
About 75 people took part. They met candidates for commissioner and common pleas judge, as
well as county Democratic chair Molly Varner and Republican chair Leslie Haas.
It's estimated that more
than ten thousand county residents have disabilities of various types.
