Two men were arrested by Marietta Police early Sunday
morning after they were allegedly caught trying to steal a piece of metal worth $10,000 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility on Post Street.
Alex Handschumacher, 34, of 10 Browns Road, Reno, and Michael Hollingsworth, 33, of 2255 Blue Knob Road in Warren Township were charged
with felony theft and trespassing. Police say the men were caught in the act by
a Corps of Engineers night watchman who called 9-1-1.
The Corps repair and fabrication facility is located above the east bank of the Muskingum River near the confluence with the Ohio.

Marietta Police are investigating the spray-painting of
swastikas on several signs around the city. Two were discovered on Friday
morning; another on Sunday morning. The most prominent was a
large black swastika spray-painted on the entrance sign at Ridgewood Court
Apartments. Others were found on an Emerson Street mailbox and a stop sign at
Muskingum Lane and Matthew Street.
