Built in the 1940s, the Recreation Center has become a popular location for Oak Grove residents. During the past nine years, over one hundred and seventy three thousand dollars in grants and fund raising have gone to improving and building upon the Rec Center.
WMOA News spoke with the Center’s Financial Chairman Joe Crone, who says some of the latest improvements include air conditioning and ADA-compliant rest rooms. “We’ve also put in a quarter mile walking track, installed up-to-date playground equipment, and our newest addition is a 40 x 60 pavilion.”
He says this Sunday, a Car Show will raise money for the Center. “Last year was our first year and it turned out well – we had over fifty cars with a wide variety, anything from corvettes to trucks.”
Crone notes the Car Show’s other activities. “During the car show we’ll have a 50/50 drawing, indoor air conditioning, drawings every half hour – also the first fifty participants get a free t-shirt with admission,” says Crone.
Cost to enter the show is $10 per car, with proceeds benefiting rec center improvements.
The Oak Grove Car Show runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Sunday at the Recreation Center at 535 B.F. Goodrich Road in Muskingum Township.
